In this moment, the attacker should hit on the knee of the opponent with right hand while withdrawing the right shoulder and hit up to the same direction of left hand.

2. Pressing on the front knee

The attacker should press on the knee of opponent with right hand while withdrawing back the right leg in a big step. The hand on the knee should be fixed with pulling up the thigh band while turning the neck and chest to the right. In this moment, the both of the knee should be in bending.

3. Turning over the front knee

The attacker should turn over the torso with hitting up the opponent's knee from the bottom while the front leg (right leg) of the attacker should step to the right leg of the opponent. In this moment, the loop of the thigh band on the left hand of the attacker should be twisted to the thumb direction and take up. And then, the opponent will lose the balance on the right leg and the upper torso will drop down to the ground.

4. Pulling the crock of the knee

The attacker should pull the crook of the knee with two hands in between the both legs of the attacker when the loop of the thigh band hung down and the both knees are bent. The point to be cautious is that the attacker should keep down the center of the body and drive the opponent with body and make get down pushing by chest with head upright. And the front lege of the attacker should step forwards about 1/2 step.

5. Pusing with pressing on the front knee

It is a technique to push out on the axis of right shoulder with pressing on the right knee of the opponent with the right hand of the attacker at normal posture. In this moment, the front knee out of the two knees of the opponent should be bent far and the knee at the back should be pushed forwards and the balance and the center of the body should be maintained.

6. Pulling the crook of the knee

It is a technique to push by hooking the crook of the knee with using the backwards power instantaneously when the opponent steps back without attention when the attacker take a pull with the opponent who are in position of left leg. The attacker should get down by pressing with lowering the center of body with hooking the left crook of the knee of the opponent by right hand and the contact points with the opponent are the shoulders and the trapezius of the upper chest.

7. Hitting on the side of the knee

It is a kind of knee folding and is a technique of folding by hitting the outside of the left knee with right hand. The attacker should get down the opponent by hitting on the left of the knee with the right hand promptly when both of the feet are side parallel, at the position of left leg; the center of opponent's body is moved from right leg to the left leg. At the same time, the attacker should turn the head and neck to the right and the upper torso should be forced to the same direction.

8. Bean picking

Bean picking is a technique named by the ancestors after the shape of picking the ripe bean from bean trees with a sickle. It is a technique to get down by pulling and snatching the crook of knee of the opponent with one or two hands. The attacker should start the technique of bean picking instantaneously during the trial of hitting on front knee by pushing the front knee of the opponent with hand. The knees should be bent with upright head in normal position and the upper chest should protect the opponent without losing the balance during attack because there is a risk of counter attack by the technique of "turning over the back neck" which is a technique of counter attacking.

9. Turning with holding arm

It is a technique to get down by rotating the opponent with hitting the outside of the right knee of the opponent with the right hand on the thigh band of waist by pulling fiercely with holding right upper arm with left hand on the loop of thigh band on the leg. The technique should be used promptly after the fierce attack and defense or when the opponent at the position of left leg. In this moment, the upper torso of the attack should be turned to the left with knee bent and the center of the body shall be moved to the hips. It is called as "Hooritbar."

10. Lifting the front leg

It is called as "lifting the whole leg.' It is a technique to get down the opponent by lifting the front leg with approaching forward with knee bending when the center of opponent's body is leaned to backwards. The modifications of the technique can make the opponent get down to the side or throw over the shoulder depending on the situation. Namely, it is desirable to hold to adopt any technique and the motion of the opponent who is stronger should be utilized in adaptation to circumstances.

11. Touch down the hands

Touching down the hands is not a good technique. It is to make the hand of low hung of the opponent touch to the floor of the mat with one or two hands of the attacker when the arms of the opponent hung low or in similar situation. It is difficult to make it with own power and winning should be got by the sudden attack to the inattention of the opponent in good opportunity. However, the attacker should be cautious at the counter attack during trial of the technique and there is a big possibility of failure because the slippery from the sweat in competition.

12. Putting with lifting and hugging

Putting with lifting and hugging is called as "Lifting, Hugging and Putting." Lift the opponent high above the knee with the intention of lifting by pulling to the inside of the crook of the knee of right leg which positioned on the front of left knee in bending of both knees. The right hand holding the thigh band should be put winding on the crook of the both leg which are hung down once the opponent is lifted.

13. Back Snatching

It is called as "Mokjupae" which is a technique to get down by pulling fiercely to the front by holding the thigh band crossing the right hand on thigh band over the opponent's shoulder. In this moment, the leg of the opponent should be protected by right leg not to come out to the front and the left hand on the thigh band of leg should be thrusted fiercely upwards.

14. Wound Turning with hitting on the back

The attacker should turn the body to the left on the axis of left leg when the mediocre posture is formed by winding the right leg to the outside of the right leg of the opponent at the posture of hitting on the back. In this moment, the left hand on the loop of thigh band of the leg should be pulled fiercely to the front down and the right leg should be lifted up with crouching the body and turning to the left to get down the opponent.

15. Wound pushing with hitting on the back

It is a technique to wind the right leg of the opponent with the right leg in state of holding the thigh band on the back (thigh band on the waist) and pull the twisted leg to the front while taking backing the body without hitting up to the back in reversed way of "wound turning with hitting on the back" and get down the opponent with lifting up the left on the loop of left leg thigh band.

16. Neck snatching

It is a technique to attack with the same skill of holding and snatching with right hand on waist thigh band. The opponent with be embarrassed once his neck is held and this technique is very effective when it is tried at the proper moment of chance.

17. Pushing forwards

It is a technique to touch down the band or get down to the front by pushing the upper torso of the opponent when the center of body of the opponent after the dynamic fighting.

18. Turing over the back neck (Holding on the back neck)

It is a technique to get down with turing to the right while pushing down the back of the neck by hand avoiding the outer leg of the opponent with lifting the left hand which holds the loop of the thigh band on the leg.

◈ Foot(Leg) Technique

1. Outer leg interlocking

It is also called as 'interlocking to the outside of the leg.' It is a technique to get down the opponent by interlocking to the right leg of the opponent with the right leg of the attacker. In order to try the outer leg interlocking, the player should induce the right leg of the opponent towards him by putting his left leg a step ahead while pulling the opponent tightly towards him. And the upper torso should be pushed ahead a bit and bend the both of the knees. In this moment, the player should support his right leg to the back of the opponent's right leg and push and throw the opponent to the ground by making the center of gravity of the opponent lose the balance to the backwards. There can be many modified techniques in outer leg interlocking technique and it is available to get the opponent down in many different directions.

2. Outer leg snatching

It is also called as 'snatching to the outside of the leg.' It is a same category of technique with outer leg interlocking. The attacker should bend the left knee a bit when the right leg of the opponent approaches to the left leg of the attacker and then wind and snatch his right leg on to the right leg of the opponent by turning the torso of the opponent counter clock wisely to the left of the attacker with the left hand holding the thigh band on the leg and the right hand holding the thigh band on the waist. The outer leg snatching should be tried by moving the center of the opponent's body to counter clockwise direction. Especially, it will be effective if the inertia of rotating the opponent to the left is used and the right leg of the opponent should be snatched with winding upwards.

3. Outer Leg winding and turning

When the both players' upper torso contact and the right legs are interlocked, the attacker will turn to the right and wind and turn with lifting the right leg which was interlocked while releasing back his right shoulder. The outer leg winding and turning shall be tried promptly while dueling with the technique of outer leg interlocking pushed by the opponent and the left leg shall be fixed at the beginning position.

4. Inner leg interlocking

It is one of the most popular techniques with leg used in the Ssireum competition, i.e. the technique to get the opponent down by gearing the right leg to the inside of the opponent's left leg. The situations to use the inner leg interlocking technique are various. A few examples will be taken for better understanding. Firstly, it is a good chance when the knees are far apart with contacting the bodies of both players. Secondly, it is good when the attacker hit the opponent's knee at near and opponent's rear leg moves forwards by yielding to the attacker's power. But the exact technique of inner leg interlocking is throwing down the opponent by forwarding the left leg of the attacker and pulling the opponent to the right with his right hand holding the thigh band on the waist at the lower posture and inserting the stretched right leg to the deeply inside and wind and snatch. In this moment, the attacker should keep the balance and center of the body all the time and pull the thigh band fiercely.

5. Crook of the knee interlocking

It is a technique to get down the opponent by pushing with full power through interlocking to the inside of the right crook of the knee when dueling at bearing the abdomen to abdomen. The motions of the arms are same with the technique of bearing the abdomen to abdomen.

6. Weeding hoe hooking

It is a technique of getting down the opponent by interlocking at the part of Achilles' tendon with the heel when the opponent is put down below the knee after lifting up. The attacker should keep the balance and center of the body with pulling the foot of thigh band applied and keeping the neck backwards at instantaneous moment. However, there is a risk of counter attacking by opponent when the attacker put down the opponent. /span>

7. Hooking of fishing

It is a technique for hooking and pushing by interlocking the foot on the outer ankle of right foot of opponent while bending the right knee to the outer direction when the opponent's food touched down outside of the mat and restepping on the mat at the mediocre position of upper torso contact through pulling the thigh band strongly by both of the players. The attacker should get the opponent down with revolving force by pulling the left hand holding the loop of thigh band to the lower and front and pushing the right hand holding the thigh band on the waist upwards.

8. Hooking on the ankle

It is a technique for hooking and pushing to the outer of left ankle of opponent with right ankle when the opponent attacks with the left leg. It is good to attack by hooking and pulling depending on situation. It is more effective in attacking at the state that the left leg should move forwards and hook the right ankle when the technique of hooking on the ankle is applied.

9. Pusing with hooking on the back of the heel

10. Turning by hooking on ankle

It is a technique to get down the opponent with turning and pushing to the left by hooking on the inner of right ankle by left ankle with holding the thigh band firmly. The direction of the left foot should be turned to the left with a great extent.

11. Kicking on the front leg

It is a technique to kick and snatch the right ankle of the opponent which positioned to the front from right to the left. When this technique is applied, the attack should be done with the sole only. The attacker should pay attention for trial of the technique because the attacker may get the warning by the foul if he kicks the opponent with the inside and top of the foot and with ankle.

12. Kicking on the front knee jointly

It is a dually integrated technique to attack with hand and foot on the right leg of the opponent. The attacker has to use the recoiling power exerted as if push the shoulder and torso of the opponents upwards with the shoulder. The attacker has to kick the inside of the ankle of the opponent with the right sole while put aside the front knee of the opponent with right hand and releasing the shoulder when the center of the body of the opponent move to the front. When it is tried, the attacker should keep the center and balance of the body and get down the opponent with turning the body to the right. It is better to attack with targeting the inattention of the opponent when both players are in relaxation after the fierce exchange of attack and defense.

13. Turning with support on the knee

It is a technique to turn and throw while folding with support of right sole on the outer of left knee. It is effective during moving the center of body turning to the right with holding the thigh band by the both players. The center of body and balance has to be kept as it is a technique tried during rotation. Otherwise, the attacker may have a counter attack by the opponent.

14. Tool hooking

It is a technique to wind the right leg on to the right leg of the opponent at the normal posture and to get down by winding with turning at the axis of the left leg. It is called as 'Cruller.'

15. Cross bar hooking

It is a technique to get down to the left by hooking the left crook of the knee with right ankle by squeezing the opponent's leg with both thighs when the opponent try to attack with the technique of 'inner leg interlocking.'

16. Knee twisting

It is a technique to get down turning to the left by pushing the other knee when the right part contacted at the posture of knee folding by both player.

17. Trap hooking

It is a technique to get down by pushing over the opponent through pulling the thigh band with both hands by hooking the left leg to the outer when the opponent attack with 'abdomen to abdomen' or stepping the leg to the front. The attacker has to bend the waist of the opponent by pushing with chin and upper torso.

◈ Waist Technique

1. Uploading on the abdomen

It is a technique to pull the opponent to the front and throw with turning to the right which is the basic of Ssireum and one of the most typical attacking techniques. It is a lifting the opponent' waist and abdomen at the normal posture of Ssireum and at the same time throwing with turning to the right with getting inside the opponent's body in crouching with heels lifted. In this moment, the left hand on the thigh band of the leg and the right hand on the waist thigh band should be pulled up to the front with firm grip.

2. Uploading on the right abdomen

It is a technique to lift and throw by attacking the abdomen of the opponent with turning the right flank to the front. It is a throwing to get the right waist and leg inside of the opponent's body when the posture is formed in holding to the outer thigh band or left shoulder and when the attacker's hand holds the loop of thigh band on the leg. The "uploading on the abdomen' is a reversed way of this technique.

3. Abdomen to abdomen

There are two modifications in the applied technique of abdomen to abdomen. First, it is a technique of counter lifting when the opponent puts him down after lifting. Second, it is a technique to lift by uploading on abdomen when the opponent wants to lift or upon starting the match. The attacker should lift the opponent with the maximum force by folding him with contacting the knees upon rising up with holding the thigh band. The balance and the center of body should be maintained and the gap between the legs should not be apart too far because there is a risk of counter attacking by the opponent when the knees are apart too far.

4. Uploading abdomen on the hip

It is a technique to contact the left hip to between left and right leg with pulling up the loop of thigh band of the opponent by left hand and get down with turning to the right and pulling to the front using the right arm which holds the thigh band on the waist. The attacker will push the shoulder of the opponent and at the moment when the opponent push against at the normal position of Ssireum, the attacker will turn the body to the right by using opponent's pushing and put the hips into the opponent with stretching the bent knee and lift up by the left hand which holds the loop of thigh band on the leg and the right hand which holds the thigh band on the waist.

5. Uploading on the abdomen by turning

It is a technique to get down the opponent by the technique of "abdomen to abdomen" by making turn in "spiral motion" with lifting the center of arm, body and force gradually upwards at the normal posture. In this moment, it has to be tried with moving the center to the right at the normal posture and making the torso upright from the crouching elastically. The center of the body should be positioned at the right side.

6. Abdomen to abdomen with lifting

It is a technique to lift the opponent to the above of attacker's knee with holding the thigh band by both hands in knees are bent and the left knee and the right knee kept in front and back. The attacker should get down the opponent by uploading on the abdomen through inducing the opponent's leg to the outside of right when the opponent is lifted up. In this moment, the center of the body and balance should be kept properly and there is a risk to be attacked by 'counter attack' at the moment of putting down the opponent on the floor when the knees of the attacker are apart or the opponent is not attacked properly.

7. Lifting and putting down

It is a technique to get down the opponent by pressing with the whole body as well as making opponent touch down on the hips after lifting the opponent above the knee or near chest. It requires a great power and the opponent should tighten by pulling the waist with contacting the body closely when the opponent is lifted up. Accordingly, the attacker should get him down by attacking reversely

8. Throwing out by turning

It is a technique to get down the opponent by the inertial force and turning speed during turning to the right when both players are at the mediocre position with contacting knees. The both of the legs should be bent on the knee in turning until throwing out and the both of the hands which hold the thigh band on the leg and waist should lift up the opponent with a full power. The "throwing out" has to be tried at the decisive moment during turning.

9. Pluging into the air

It is used frequently when the opponent is weak as it is a technique of throwing. It is a throwing out the opponent by lifting the hands and arms which hold the loop of thigh band on the leg and the thigh band on the waist upwards left and it requires a big force in upper torso. The opponent will try to move to the back in order to recover to original position. The plunging should be done at this moment.

10. Waist hooking

It is a technique to hook and pull the waist with holding the waist thigh band deeply with the hand which hold the thigh band on the waist and bending the wrist of the hand inwards which holds the loop of thigh band on the leg. It has to be done with head upright and push to the front fiercely with both knees bent.

11. Throwing with pushing

It is a technique to drive with fullest power with pulling the thigh band when the center of the opponent's body leaned to backwards with bending the knees at the normal posture. It will be successful when it is done instantaneously at the capturing the opportunity.

12. Turing with kicking

It is a technique to get down by turning with entering to the front with the left knee bending a little bit and kicking at the heel and the sides of the leg of the opponent during turning to the right promptly. In this moment, the right hand which holds the thigh band should be pulled upwards and to sides and the left hand on the thigh band on the leg should be lifted and turned fiercely to the same direction for getting down.

13. Snatching by holding

It is a technique to get down the opponent by hooking the waist with contact the right waist to the waist and body of the opponent with pulling the thigh band fiercely. It can be achieved by the combination of three factors of quickness, power and capturing the change and it is a frequently used technique in Ssireum competition.

14. Snatching by holding with lifting

It is a technique to get down the opponent with pulling to the chest and pushing to the left in putting the right leg between the legs of the opponents.

15. Snatching the flank

It is a technique to get down by snatching up the thigh band to the sides with putting the right leg between the legs of opponent deeply during turning to the leg with releasing the left which holds the thigh band on the leg. In this moment, the left hand should hit on the side of the right leg.

16. Throwing by back loading

It is a technique to get down with throwing by back loading on to the turning to the left with putting the right waist by holding the right arm of the opponent with releasing the right hand which holds the thigh band on the waist.

17. Throwing over the shoulder

It is a technique to throw the opponent over the shoulder with a motion of turning aside by the player under the body of the opponent at the state of "double holding."

18. Turning the fish upside down

It is a technique to get down the opponent by the player under the body of the opponent when the opponent presses from the top with holding the thigh band on the back in state of up and down. It is called as "upside down." It is a winning by turning the opponent in the state of up and down as if roast the seasoned fish (salted fish) by turning aside. "Turning the fish upside down" is called as "a flower of Ssireum technique" which is precise and beautiful and it is proper for the player with flexible waist and speedy in motion.

◈ Mixed and integrated technique

I. Application of hand technique

1. Hitting on front knee -> Turning over the front knee

It is to get down the opponent to the front with supporting the right hand on the front knee of the opponent while the right leg of the attacker withdrawing to the right backwards when the center of the body unbalanced to the front at the normal posture contacting with the shoulder. In this moment, the attacker should keep the right posture promptly and contact the shoulder each other if the opponent is not fallen down. If the technique of hitting in front knee is failed, the attacker should put the right leg in step to the right foot which positioned in front of opponent and hit up the knee of the opponent. In this moment, the loop of the thigh band on the left hand of the attacker should be twisted to the thumb direction and take up. And then, the opponent will lose the balance on the right leg and the upper torso will drop down to the ground.

2. Turning over the front knee -> Pulling the crock of the knee

The attacker should turn over the torso with hitting up the opponent's knee from the bottom while the front leg at the right leg of the attacker should step to the right leg of the opponent. In this moment, if the opponent is not fallen down and come back to right position, the attacker should hold the crook of the thigh and pull between the two legs with his right hand. A lot of efforts have to be spent in order to make a continuous motion from turning over the front knee to the pulling the crook of the knee. The attacker should keep down the center of the body and drive the opponent with body and make get down pushing by chest with head upright. And the front leg of the attacker should step forwards about 1/2 step.

3. Pressing on the front knee -> Pressing on the back crook of the knee

The attacker should press on the knee of opponent with right hand while withdrawing back the right leg in a big step. The hand on the knee should be fixed with pulling up the thigh band while turning the neck and chest to the right. In this moment, if the opponent recovers to the right posture, the attacker should get down the opponent by pulling a bit promptly with pushing and hooking on the crook of the knee. The application of this technique is winning by changing from pressing on the front knee to pressing on the back crook of the knee. The player should know that it is not only changing from pressing on the front knee to pressing on the back crook of the knee. It will be effective in real competition when it is trained in various applications across hand technique, leg technique, hand and waist technique and hand technique to hand technique.

4. Pressing on the back crook of the knee -> Hitting on the side of the knee

The attacker should try the pressing on the back crook of the knee by driving and pressing with lower center of body while pulling the left crook of the opponent's knee with right hand. In trial of pressing on the back crook of the knee, the attacker should hit on the outer of the right knee of the opponent. In this moment, the attacker should push the opponent and hit on the opponent's knee by hand.

5. Turning with holding arm -> Lifting the front leg

It is a technique to get down by rotating the opponent with hitting the outside of the right knee of the opponent by the right hand on the thigh band of waist by pulling fiercely with holding right upper arm with left hand on the loop of thigh band on the leg. If the opponent is not fallen down, the attacker should go forwards by bending the right knee at the front. And the attacker should win with lifting the front leg while holding the thigh of the opponent and throwing over the shoulder. Lifting the front leg is called as "lift the whole leg." The technique can make the opponent get down to the side or throw over the shoulder depending on the situation. Namely, it is desirable to adopt any technique and the motion of the opponent who is stronger should be utilized in adaptation to circumstances.

6. Lifting the front leg -> Putting with lifting and hugging

It is a technique to get down the opponent by lifting the front leg with approaching forward with knee bending when the center of opponent's body is leaned to backwards.

7. Back snatching -> Turning over the back neck (Holding on the back neck)

It is a technique to get down by pulling fiercely to the front by holding the thigh band crossing the right hand on thigh band over the opponent's shoulder. It is a technique to get down with turning to the right while push down the back of the neck by right hand which holds the thigh band with lifting the left hand which holds the loop of the thigh band on the leg. The application of this technique is to get a winning by connecting from back snatching to turning over the back neck promptly.

II. Application of leg technique

1.Outer leg interlocking -> Outer leg snatching

It is a technique to get down the opponent by interlocking to the right leg of the opponent by the right leg of the attacker. And the upper torso should be pushed ahead a bit and with bending the both of the knee. In this moment, the player should push and throw the opponent to the ground by making the center of gravity of the opponent lose the balance to the backwards. If the opponent is not fallen down, the attacker should take a ready position with taking back the right leg and standing. If the outer leg interlocking is failed, the attacker should get down the opponent by outer leg snatching by winding and snatching the right leg of the opponent with the right leg using the moment of opponent's right leg positioned at the left foot with the left knee bent a bit. The outer leg snatching should be tried by moving the center of the opponent's body to counter clockwise direction. Especially, it will be effective if the inertia of rotating the opponent to the left is used and the right leg of the opponent should be snatched with winding upwards.

2. Crook of the knee interlocking -> Inner leg interlocking

It is a technique to get down the opponent by pushing with full power through interlocking to the inside of the right crook of the knee when dueling at bearing the abdomen to abdomen. In this moment, the attacker should get down the opponent by hooking and snatching with contacting the right leg which tried the technique of crook of the knee interlocking to the inside of the opponent's left leg. The attacker should keep the balance and center of the body properly and the loop of the thigh band should be pulled fiercely.
